About Role

As the first in-house hire in finance and accounting at Ring Concierge, the Director of Finance role requires a candidate who has the ability to provide strategic financial strategy while still rolling up their sleeves and balancing the day-to-day accounting requirements. The role is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining all finance and accounting related operations, as laid out below. 

RC is a small company, therefore, the ideal candidate must be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with an entrepreneurial spirit. Who has the ability to see the long term potential of their role/function at RC due to the confidence in their ability to be an effective partner to the CEO and senior management. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting policies
  • Provide regular financial reports to the CEO and other stakeholders by defining internal financial performance metrics
  • Create ad hoc analysis and scenario modeling to support decision-making process while evaluating various internal initiatives
  • Continually analyzing the business, its trends, and potential threats and communicating them to the CEO
  • Manage and control the financial inventory function 
  • Manage daily accounting operations, creating scalable processes to ensure all financial information is properly captured, reconciled, and documented
  • Create and implement accounting policies that fit our business ensuring tight controls across the organization 
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable 
  • Track expenses, budget, taxes, cash flow, receipts and other financial dealings of the company
  • Provide and manage month-end and year-end close and timely generation of accurate financial statements; tax compliance and filings, including sales tax and state and federal income tax; and financial audits 
  • Maintain compliance with government agencies 
  • Manage and process company payroll

About You

  • Current or prior experience at an e-commerce consumer goods company with extensive inventory skus
  • Experience at high growth startup creating and implementing accounting procedures and practices in addition to experience with established corporate structures
  • Excellent at recording data and have the ability to produce clear financial models 
  • Strategic thinker
  • Ability to wear many hats and work across functions of the organization to create collaboration between accounting and the other functions 
  • Ability to notice risks to the business and articulate them to the CEO/necessary stakeholders 
  • Experience working with third-party accountants
  • Experience in preparing financial statements & tax return reports
  • A self-starter who can work autonomously without much direction or oversight 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • An accurate, detail-oriented and thoughtful approach to everything you do
  • Strong written, verbal, and collaboration skills

Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting experience at a high growth e-commerce company
  • Prior experience at Big 4 accounting firm is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA license, preferred
  • Strong accounting skills and GAAP knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and QuickBooks

  • Full-time role located in Rochester, NY
  • Office Hours: 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, with the knowledge that we have a startup culture and your day may extend past listed office hours (with the possibility of weekends during busy season, sales or events)
