The colorful jewelry trend may have first emerged a couple of years ago, but it's still going as strong as ever going into 2021. Technicolor tendencies took hold when bright, bold pops of color—by way of blue topaz, citrine, and pink tourmaline—began making their way into our usual mix of dainty gold and diamond jewelry. By the start of summer, our newfound predilection for playful, eye-catching pieces had exploded into a kaleidoscope of color and the rainbow jewelry trend was in full swing.
Earrings, rings, and necklaces bedecked in multi-colored gemstones were the most sought-after pieces turning up the volume on summer style. Sparkling sapphires in every hue freshened up our everyday accessories lineup and proved to look just as good finishing off a night-out ensemble as they did paired with jeans and a white T-shirt. Maximalists and minimalists alike can get on board with the rainbow jewelry trend, adding a little (or a big) splash of color via emerald-cut gemstones in a colorway best described as “ROYGBIV.” Rainbow bar necklaces livened up layered stylings and colorful rows of rainbow rings made stacking even more fun.
